Some days I think I’m a walking contradiction. I LOVE trying new products – whether that is grocery items, personal care or household items but for somethings I get stuck in product rut.
You know what I mean? You try something, love it, and always find yourself going back to it. I’m like that with candles and home fragrances. I’ve tried them all and have found nothing that keeps its scent and appeal for as long as Yankee Candles. I know they are expensive, but they last forever and smell so good! That is until I tried Scentsy!
I’ve got several friends and acquaintances that sell Scentsy but I just couldn’t believe it lived up to all the hype so I never took the plunge to try it. Then I was contacted by a Scentsy Independent Consultant who has also been a long standing member of the SaveaLoonie Community, Savanna. She offered me the opportunity to try and review some Scentsy products and of course I couldn’t say no!

But before we get to all of that, let me tell you all about my experience with Scentsy!
Design
I’m sure most of you at least know a little bit about Scentsy but let me give you a brief explanation. Scentsy is a company that offers a variety of products but focuses mainly on home fragrance. Their signature product is the Scentsy Warmer. The warmers come in full or mid size or in plug-in size and use a low-watt bulb to slow melt specially formulated scented wax. With no flame, smoke or soot, these wickless candle systems will surely keep your whole home smelling great while keeping it clean and safe for your family!
In addition to the Warmers, Scentsy also offers Room Spray, Scent Paks & Circles and a personal fragrance line called Scentsy Layers all in what seems like 100’s of fragrances!
The warmers and plug-ins come in a wide variety of designs to suit any space / style. I received the Jane Warmer & Plug-In to review and couldn’t be happier. I love the look of them and how seamlessly they fit the decor in our home.
The only issue I have is the warmer portion of the plug-in is quite large and heavy. Although, it does attach securely to the base and to the outlet, I feel it could potentially be a bit dangerous. If one of our dogs (or a child) touched it or knocked it out of the outlet it could burn them and cause a big mess. To avoid the issue, we just put it in an outlet where the dogs can’t get at it.
Does It Work?
I’ve tried wax melts and flameless candles in the past and as I said before, didn’t have much luck with them. Scentsy is totally different! With just one block of fragrance wax in the warmer, the entire room quickly fills with beautiful scent. And when I say it fills the room – I mean it! With most warmers & candles you have to be within a few feet to catch a whiff but I can literally smell my Scentsy from across the room and sometimes even in the next room! For instance, I had the Blueberry Cheesecake bar in the plug-in in our upstairs bathroom and the scent floated right down the stairs! I wanted to eat the air LOL
Not only do these fragrances smell great – they last forever! I put one square of one bar in my full size warmer and haven’t had to add any more in a week! And I burn it basically all day every day! The one thing I have noticed though, is by this point the smell is starting to wain even though there is still lots of wax in the warmer. I haven’t added any new bar to it yet though because I’m trying to figure out exactly how long one bar will last!
I was also given a set of Scentsy Layers to test out and let me tell you – the scent in these products is phenomenal! In the pack I got a Body Spray, Hand Cream & Shower Gel in Lingers scent and it does linger! It smells so good 🙂 I’m a bit of a perfume addict and body sprays don’t usually cut it for me (the scent is too weak and doesn’t last) but the Scentsy Layers Body Spray was fantastic. I could continue to smell it off myself for at least 2 hours! In my experience that’s pretty long! The Shower Gel and Hand Cream also have the same vibrant scent and they work great. The hand cream is a bit on the greasy side for me so I have to let it really soak in before I do anything.
Durabilility
The warmers and the plug-ins are made of glasses so in theory they are fragile but they don’t really feel that way. They are heavy and solid enough to withstand a few shakes and bumps. These warmers are built to last a long time in your home.
As I mentioned before, the scent bars themselves last a long time so you don’t need to refill it often. Savanna also gave me some great tips about what to do with the extra was you may have in your warmer.
If you want to change scents and your current scent still has smell to it you can pour it right back into the container although I don’t recommend trying it with a plug in. You can blot used wax out with a paper towel, or with cotton balls, or you can use the leftover wax to make fire starters

Dollar Value
I’m not going to lie – Scentsy isn’t cheap, but it’s not THAT expensive either. It’s part of the reason I couldn’t bring myself to try it! To purchase a warmer and scent bars, it can be a bit of an investment.
Warmers start at $30 each & go up to $42 and Plug-ins are $24 a piece. You will also need a Scentsy bar (or 2 or 10 LOL) and those sell for $6 each. So you’re looking at a minimum of $30 to get started but it is worth every penny! I love my Scentsy warmers and I can’t wait to get more bars (is it bad that I’m already thinking ahead to the wonderful holiday scents filling my home?)
If you’re like me and obsessed with Yankee Candles, your going to be spending $20 – $25 on one large candle. Sure, it will last you for weeks but it will eventually run out. Your Scentsy warmer is around for the long haul and you can change the scent whenever you want! You don’t get that luxury with a candle.
