This makes me mad. Like really infuriates me. As a matter of fact, I HATE THIS!!
Thanks to SaveaLoonian, Julie for bring to our attention the presence of a FAKE Mr Christie Cookies Coupon that is currently in circulation. When I first heard the coupon description, I was immediately suspicious, but upon actually seeing the coupon, I knew it was fake.
Here’s why:
On first inspection the coupon looks good. It’s got most of the right wording & the right look plus it has a respectable expiry date. It’s when you look a little closer that you can tell it is not right.
#1. It’s too good to be true. In close to 3 years of couponing, I’ve never seen a Christie Cookies coupon with a value that high. Not to mention it has surfaced right at the time where Christie Cookies are on sale as low at $1.44.
#2. The redemption address is to Kraft Canada headquarters. 9 times out of 10 companies, especially those as large as Kraft, do not do their own coupon remittance processing. Instead, coupons are sent a clearing house where they are sorted, processed and then the companies are individually billed for the reimbursement to each store.
#3. It is a PDF file. If a company is going to release a coupon with such a high value, they are more likely to release it under controlled circumstances (eg webSaver or coupon inserts). This way, people can’t over print and take advantage of the offer.
#4. The UPC on the coupon is 1234567890. That is probably the biggest indicator in my opinion.
So there you have it folks! Be on the look out for this fake coupon & if you receive it in a trade etc, don’t use it. Also be sure to pass the word along so others (and Kraft!) aren’t getting duped by some one else’s selfish actions. Creating, modifying or using a known fake coupon is FRAUD and here at SaveaLoonie we only support happy, fun and LEGAL couponing!
