Hey everyone. So we normally try and keep SaL upbeat and positive but I saw something this weekend while grocery shopping that made both Ryan and I quite upset. I had to share this with you.
So here it goes. Ryan and I went to our local Independent Grocer to pick up some of the groceries on our list. While we were walking up and down each of the isles I noticed that the number of tear pads that are normally in that store had decreased quite significantly. I didn’t really think much of it, as couponing becomes more popular I usually expect to find there are less tear pads and few amounts of coupons on each. What really bothered us is when we got to the isle with the Old El Paso taco kits in them. Now we all know that these kits are a great deal even regular price because they contain an FPC for Kraft Shredded cheese.
The disturbing thing was when we looked on the shelf, there were 3 boxes ripped open the contents left on the shelf and the FPC ripped out of each one! This is NOT the right way to coupon! The coupons these companies supply us with are meant to help the consumer. They should never be used to hurt the company. And thats exactly what this person did. By destroying the boxes and leaving their contents on the shelf, that product can not be sold now. This company has now not only lost the money for the FPC but is now also losing money on the product you are SUPPOSE TO BUY to get the FPC.
I don’t want this to sound like a rant but in a way it is. We have to remember not to be greedy everyone! I know when a great deal is available we tend to get a little carried away. If you are purchasing mass quantities of an item because you will use it or donate it, thats great! But please, please, please don’t get so carried away that you wind up stealing from a company. As I mentioned earlier, the number of tearpads is starting to decrease and now some selfish person is destroying products to steal an FPC!
I don’t really believe that companies will ever stop distributing coupons, as they help promote their products, but I do believe that if people continue to act so inappropriately that the number of coupons (especially FPCs) will decrease drastically. I know one persons actions don’t count for all of us but as the saying goes, one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch I have faith that none of you SaveaLoonians would act in such bad taste, but I just wanted to remind all of you that couponing should benefit everyone, not just you! And if you should see someone in a store behaving this way, in the politest way possible, remind them of that
