2013 marked another FABULOUS year for Canadian Couponers! We were treated to countless coupons, free samples and contests!
The SaveaLoonie Community has grown by leaps and bounds and we are so happy to welcome you all!
Let’s take a stroll down memory lane and look back at the Top 10 Coupons, Freebies & Contests that were available this past year.
Number 10 – Keurig Perfect Cup Contest
This was a dually offer! Keurig launched this contest the end of October and offered over 275 prizes! The real kicker was, the first 3000 people to enter, got a FREE custom designed Keurig mug! It was a mad dash for everyone to get their freebies and it was glitchy to say the least. I didn’t even have a clue what I was really doing and as a result, my mug arrived with my name being covered by the design!
Number 9 – P&G brandSAMPLER Guide
In 2013, we revamped and re-launched our FREE How To Coupon Guide! I spent hours (and by hours, I mean days & weeks) writing each and every article by myself. So you can imagine how thrilled I was to see one of our Guides article make the Top 10! By no surprise, it was our Canadian Freebies: P&G brandSAMPLER Guide! Since P&G is so incredibly generous in the number & variety of sample packs they offer throughout the year, we felt it was so important to highlight them all and explain the difference so you don’t miss out on a pack because you think you already got one!
Number 8 – Europe’s Best Pick The Best & Win Contest
Europe’s Best had one of the most popular contests of the year! Every HOUR you could play and instantly win a Hamilton Beach Single Serve Blender. This was a fun contest – even though I never won squat LOL There were also 10 BBQs available as Grand Prizes. This contest ran from early February until mid-April. I remember a similar contest from way back in 2012 too, I wonder if they will continue the tradition into 2014?
Number 7 – Mott’s Garden Cocktail Contest
Another contest, no winner! Coming in at number 7 for the top viewed of 2013 is the Mott’s Garden Cocktail Taste & Be Surprised contest! This was a daily entry contest where everyone got a $1 off coupon, plus the chance to instantly win FPCs or other great prizes.
Number 6 – Cadbury Bubbly Bar Giveaway
Oh what we women won’t do for some free chocolate! This promotion was BEYOND flawed but hey, we got free chocolate right! LOL Cadbury gave away 500 bars per day from April 30th – May 9th. The problem was, they hid the coupon offer on random sites (in the form of an advertisement) at random times through out the day. And even when it was live, not everyone got to see the ad. There were also back ways in and refresh techniques that worked occasionally on the actual portal page. It was a mess but for those that got one, free is free!
Number 5 – ABCs of Almay Giveaway
This giveaway was one of my personal favourites! Starting July 6th – August 1st, Almay gave away 50 FREE Full Size products every day! Each week a new item was available and everyone could qualify once per week to receive the freebie! This meant, anyone who was fast & lucky enough, was able to get 4 FREE Products from Almay! This was a very trying offer though. With thousands trying at once and only 50 products available, you can imagine they were gone in the blink of an eye. At least they went live at the same time every day, right!
Number 4 – Fall P&G Try Before You Buy Sampler
In at number 4 is the Fall P&G Try Before You Buy Sampler! Well, I guess technically, it was 2 samplers! If you recall, P&G launched this pack by surprise on Oct 9th. Packs only lasted a short time, but after some chats with my friend Gwen at P&G, we found out that there would be more samples! On Oct 15th, a second round of sample packs became available on the same portal! The best part was, that P&G considered each release a separate offer, so we were able to get 2 sample packs!
Number 3 – Spring P&G Try Before You Buy Sampler
April 8th was the launch date for the Spring P&G Try Before You Buy Sampler! This was our number 3 most viewed post of 2013! For the first time ever, P&G tried out a new distribution method for their sample packs with this offer. Instead of having all sample packs available at once, a certain number were available each day for week. What did you think? Did you prefer that method or the all at once method?
Number 2 – SaveaLoonie’s 3rd Annual 20 Days of Giveways
Coming in at number 2 (less than 600 views behind number 1) is SaveaLoonie’s 20 Days of Giveaways! How exciting! For the 2nd year in a row, our little ole giveaway comes in, in the Top 2! This promotion ran December 1 – 20 and allowed users to return daily for extra entries! This was our biggest and most successful giveaway ever and of course, we have YOU to thank!
Number 1 – New York Colour Applelicious Giveaway
At the top of our list for 2013 is the NYC Applelicious giveaway. You remember this one, right? It was a NIGHTMARE LOL. Starting July 19 – Aug 21st, NYC gave away 100 freebies at a different time every day. While that’s great and all, with THOUSANDS of people trying all at once, and a VERY glitchy software program, it made getting one extremely frustrating, if not next to impossible.
I must say though, I received 2 (not entirely sure how!) and LOVE them!
2013 was a year filled with ups, downs, smiles & tears but we wouldn’t trade a second of it for anything! We are looking forward to 2014 and all of the good things that it will bring us and all of our fellow SaveaLoonians! We wish all of your a Happy New Year!
