It is an effective pain reliever. Tramadol relieves attacks of pain of various origins and strengths, including strong ones. It is used for acute and chronic pain syndrome, acute injuries to prevent pain shock, during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as well as in the postoperative period to relieve pain arising from cancer.
It has a fast, strong and long lasting effect like most synthetic opiates. However, it is inferior in effectiveness to morphine. When switching from morphine to tramadol, an increase in dosage is required.
Contraindications: Not applicable if the patient is under the influence of alcohol. Contraindicated in case of allergy to the active substance. Should not be used concomitantly with monoamine oxidase inhibitors.
With extreme caution, the drug should be prescribed to drug addicts, with craniocerebral trauma, epilepsy, and abdominal pain of unknown origin. Avoid long-term use, as resistance to it may develop and the effect of the drug will weaken. Drug dependence may also occur.
Overdose: overdose may increase side effects (hallucinations, lethargy, tachycardia) and severe intoxication, which is manifested by severe vomiting, collapse, coma, convulsions, depression of the respiratory center. In case of an overdose, wash the stomach and dilute the enterosorbents.
Dosage: Apply by infusion of 1-2 ampoules (50-100 milligrams) per day. The maximum daily dose is 400 mg. The same dosage is recommended for intramuscular and subcutaneous administration.
The capsules are washed down with water, in the same dosage from 50 to 400 mg per day. Can be taken dropwise (the same 50 mg) up to 8 times a day. If necessary, tramadol is administered rectally (after bowel movement by introducing a suppository behind the sphincter). It is permissible to enter up to 4 times a day.
The fastest effect is achieved with intravenous administration, which occurs within 5-10 minutes, whereas with oral administration, the analgesic effect is achieved no earlier than half an hour later. The action lasts from three to five hours. Do not exceed the recommended dosage, as a single high dose of Tramadol can cause drug dependence.
Special instructions: not used to treat withdrawal symptoms. Do not mix Tramadol with ethanol. In the case of a single dose, there is no need to interrupt breastfeeding.
During treatment with the drug, care should be taken when driving vehicles and engaging in other potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.
