If you spend anytime at all searching the internet for contests & giveaways, I’m sure you’ve stumbled across at least one other Woolzies Review & Giveaway. After Woolzies put out a call for Bloggers awhile ago, it seems almost every site on the web has done one.
I, of course, was also interested in giving the product a shot, so I sent an email off to Woolzies. They were generous enough to send us a set of Dryer Balls to test out, but also offer THREE Dryer Ball Sets to giveaway too!
I’ve been using my Woolzies balls for a few weeks now and actually really like them! I was a bit skeptical but they have actually proven themselves to work! As always, I will be covering the 4 D’s – Design, Durability, Does It Work? and Dollar Value.
Design
Woolzies Dryer Balls are made from 100% Pure New Zealand Wool. Each ball is just a bit larger than a tennis ball and roughly the same weight. Woolzies are fragrance & chemical free as well as hypoallergenic, they are even safe for people with wool sensitivities.
They are easy to use and require little to no maintenance. All you do is throw all 6 balls into the dryer and forget it! Add your clothes in with each load and dry as normal. Woolzies claim one set of dryer balls will last 1000 loads! I’d say I’ve done about 20 or so since I started using these and they are as good as they were the day I got them.
I would say the hardest thing about using Woolzies is trying to keep them IN the dryer while taking out your clothes! I think I’ve only successfully done it once LOL It’s not a big problem or anything. I just need to remember to bring them back to the laundry room before the dogs get a hold of them! They like them too, Ella thinks its a ball for her 🙂
Durability
Since Woolzies Dryer Balls are so simple there isn’t much that can go wrong with them! As I stated above, each set is suppose to last for 1000 loads. That’s a lot of laundry!
When the dryer balls are brand new they are quite firm but soften up a bit with each use. I’ve also noticed a small bit of fraying of the wool but nothing severe at all.
Does It Work?
Absolutely! I definitely like this product and would recommend it to others. These dryer balls work better than others I have tried at reducing static and wrinkles. I wouldn’t say I’ve noticed a big difference in drying time but then again my dryer automatically detects the dryness level of the clothes and adjusts its time accordingly so it is pretty hard to track. Either way, they work!
One of the big differences I have noticed is the amount of lint in my lint trap at the end of each load. As you may know, we have 2 dogs. That equates into a lot of dog hair! Since using Woolzies Dryer Balls I’ve noticed when the clothes come out of the dryer, they are almost dog hair free! This is a huge benefit for us! I have no issue cleaning extra lint out of the trap if it means less hair on my clothes!
A small con I’ve discovered with these balls can be the sound. If you are doing a large load of laundry you can hardly notice them in there at all, but if it is a small or unbulky load the dryer balls are quite loud banging around in the dryer. If your living space isn’t anywhere near your laundry room then it should make no difference at all.
Dollar Value
One set of 6 Woolzies Dryer Balls sell for $34.95 + $6.95 USD shipping & handling. Each set is suppose to last 1000 loads. Time for some math…
$41.90 (total cost) / 1000 loads = $0.04 / load
Not bad at all! Lets compare now to standard dryer sheets..
Bounce Original Dryer Sheets 180 count sell for $8.97 regular price at Walmart. You would need 5.5 boxes (approximately) of Bounce Dryer Sheets to equal the load count of Woolzies.
5.5 x $8.97 = $49.35 ~ $49.35 / 1000 loads = $0.05 / load
Still not that bad. Combine that will a sale and a coupon (even if it is only $0.50) and your pretty much even if not a little less.
So there you have it. It’s a pretty close comparison to price but if you are looking for a natural, unscented and gentle product Woolzies is where it’s at!
